When a customer pays you, or you pay a vendor, record it against the bill so the amount due goes down and the bill’s status updates.
Money received from a customer
- Open the sales invoice (from Invoices or the customer’s ledger).
- Click Record payment.
- The Amount box is already filled with the full Outstanding amount. Change it if the customer paid only part.
- Pick the Method — Cash, UPI, Card, Bank, Cheque, or Other.
- Check the Date. It is today by default.
- Under Deposit to, pick the account the money went into (a cash or bank account). Yojika suggests one based on the method.
- Add a Reference or Notes if you want.
- Click Record.
Below the amount, Yojika tells you what will happen — for example “₹500.00 will remain due” or “Settles the invoice in full”.
Money paid to a vendor
Open the purchase bill and click Record payment. It works the same way, except you choose the account the money came From. The dialog is titled Make payment.
Paying by cheque
If you choose Cheque as the method, extra boxes appear for the Cheque no. and Cheque date. A cheque payment stays pending — it does not add to your account balance until you mark it cleared. See Cheques to track and clear cheques.
