Storage locations and transfers

Track stock across more than one godown or branch, and move stock between them.

Updated

If you keep stock in more than one place — a shop and a godown, or two branches — you can track how much is at each location and move stock between them. If you run a single location, you can ignore this feature entirely; nothing changes.

Add locations

  1. Open Settings and find Storage locations.
  2. Click Manage locations.
  3. Type a name in New location and click Add.

The first location you add becomes the Default. Use Make default to change which one is the default, the pencil to Rename, and the bin to Delete. You cannot delete the default while other locations exist — make another one the default first.

Where locations show up

Once you have two or more locations, extra controls appear:

  • When you adjust stock, a Location dropdown lets you say which location the change applies to.
  • In an item’s Stock history, a By location table shows how much is at each location.

Transfer stock between locations

  1. In Settings → Storage locations, click Transfer stock.
  2. Choose the Item.
  3. Pick the From and To locations.
  4. Enter the Quantity. Yojika shows how much is on hand at the “from” location.
  5. Click Transfer.

A transfer moves stock between locations without changing the item’s total stock. As elsewhere, a transfer that takes a location below zero is allowed and shows a warning.
