Every list you work in answers one question — “what did this customer buy?”, “where is this item’s stock coming from?” — and the report that answers it is one tap away. View report opens the Reports screen on the report that matches what you were looking at, with the context already applied.
Where the button is
- Invoices — each bill’s ⋮ menu. Opens the Sale report for that bill’s customer.
- Purchases — each bill’s ⋮ menu. Opens the Purchase report for that bill’s vendor.
- Parties — each party’s ⋮ menu. Opens the Party report by items for that party, over all dates.
- Items — each item’s ⋮ menu. Opens the Item detail report for that item, over all dates.
- Expenses and Other Income — the View report button next to Categories. Opens the Expense report (or Cash flow for Other Income).
- Payment In and Payment Out — the View report button in the toolbar. Opens the Day book.
What carries over
- The party or item you started from is already picked — you will see it named in the Party or Item filter and in the line under the report’s title. It is never applied in secret: if the report is filtered, the filter bar says so.
- The dates you were looking at carry over. A bill list showing all time opens the report on all time; the Expenses screen showing this month opens the report on this month. Change the period with the usual date chips.
- Parties and items open their reports on all dates, because the figure beside the row you tapped (its balance, its stock) is an all-dates figure.
Going back and stale links
Back returns you to the list you came from, with the search box and filters as you left them — the report is opened on top of your list, not in place of it.
If the party or item a link points at has been removed from your books entirely (purged from the Recycle bin), the report still opens — with no filter applied, and a note saying that party or item is no longer in your books. A party or item that was only deleted (and can still be restored from the Recycle bin) still filters by name, because its history is still in your books. An unknown report name opens the normal Reports screen with its default report.
