Need a second copy of a bill? Reprint it in one tap: open the bill again from your Invoices list and print — it comes out identical, with the same number and total. A reprint never creates a new invoice and never changes your stock. This guide shows how to reprint the last bill (or any older one), when to use the Original / Duplicate copy options, and why reprinting is always safe to do.
How to reprint the last bill
You reprint a bill by simply opening it again. In Yojika:
- Open the Invoices screen from the sidebar. It lists every bill you have made, newest first.
- Click the row for the bill you want — the last one is right at the top. (Or type its number or the customer’s name in the Find box.)
- The bill opens as a print preview. Use the print action to send it to your printer, or save it as a PDF.
That’s it. The reprint is an exact copy of what you billed the first time — same invoice number, same date, same items and same total.
If you are still on the bill you just saved, it’s even quicker: the Save & Print preview stays open, so you can print another copy without going anywhere.
Pick the paper size for the reprint
A reprint uses the same paper sizes as any bill, so you can even reprint on a different width than the original if you need to. Use the size dropdown at the top right:
- A4 — full page
- A5 — half page
- Thermal 58 mm / 65 mm / 80 mm — receipt rolls
Your shop’s usual size is chosen for you; changing it here applies to this print only. If you want the driver and paper basics for a receipt printer, see our thermal printer setup guide.
One copy, or Original + Duplicate?
For a full-page (A4 / A5) bill you can print more than one copy in a single job using the copies dropdown:
- 1 copy
- 2 (Original + Duplicate)
- 3 (Orig + Dup + Trip)
Each copy is captioned for its holder. This follows the usual GST convention for a tax invoice on goods: the original is marked Original for Recipient, the duplicate Duplicate for Transporter, and the triplicate Triplicate for Supplier (see Rule 48 on cbic.gov.in). For services, an invoice is prepared in duplicate. Rules around carrying copies have eased over the years, so confirm what your business actually needs on cbic.gov.in or with your CA. Thermal receipt rolls just print plain copies without the captions.
Reprinting never creates a new bill
This is the important part, and it’s what makes reprinting safe: a reprint is only a printout, not a new sale. When you reprint:
- The invoice number does not change — you don’t get a new number, and no number is skipped. Your numbering stays gap-free for the financial year.
- Your stock does not move again. The items came out of stock when you first made the bill; reprinting doesn’t deduct them a second time.
- The party ledger and payments are untouched. The customer’s dues are exactly as they were.
So you can reprint the same bill as many times as you like — after a printer jam, when the first receipt faded, or when the customer comes back next week for a copy — without it ever affecting your books.
A worked example
Meena runs a stationery shop in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. A customer buys ₹500 of notebooks (taxed at 18%), an intra-state sale, so the tax splits into CGST ₹45 + SGST ₹45. The bill, INV2026-27/0231, totals ₹590 (₹500 + ₹45 + ₹45).
Halfway through printing, the thermal roll jams. Meena reopens INV2026-27/0231 from her Invoices list and prints it again. The reprint shows the same number, INV2026-27/0231, and the same ₹590 total — not a new bill. Her stock still shows the notebooks going out just once, and her invoice count hasn’t changed. (Rates here are an example; confirm the current rate for your goods on cbic.gov.in.)
Two weeks later the same customer wants a copy for their office file. Meena searches “INV2026-27/0231”, opens it, and prints a Duplicate on A4. Again, nothing in her books moves.
When you’ll reprint a bill
The everyday reasons a shopkeeper reprints:
- Printer jam or blank receipt — the sale saved fine, only the paper failed.
- A faded thermal receipt — thermal print fades over months; reopen and reprint on A4.
- The customer wants a second copy — for their records or an office reimbursement.
- You want a filing copy — print a Duplicate for your own folder.
In every case the bill already exists in your records, so reprinting is just asking for the paper again.
Doing this without the stress
Reprinting sounds trivial until the printer eats your receipt during a Diwali rush and the next customer is waiting. The point of good billing software is that the record is safe the moment you hit save, and getting the paper again is one tap — on any size, in your customer’s language.
